Anybody use 'em on USGI mags?  Flirting with the idea of getting some to help protect my mags in the event of a drop but I don't know if they're just gimmicks.  How do they look and how is the quality?

I put them on my 6.8 PRI mags and like them.  Look good and have to have some cushioning effect on pre panic $40 ea. mags.

Lumpy plates do the job when the mags are dropped on concrete ot asphalt

also makes it easier to grab out of a mag pouch

I have them on my D&H mags. Fit tight, no rattle, definite gain in cushioning & "grabability".

Have them on 6 G.I. type mags. Love them and not only protects the mag bottom but also
keeps them from skidding around when shooting monopod prone.

Not only do they help protect the mag, if you have ever dropped a loaded GI mag on a hard surface....you know they are prone to blowing the floor plate off. The Magpul Ranger L plate is stronger and much less likely to fail.
