I'm thinking about ordering one just for the giggle factor alone. And just for the record I'm NOT recommending these to anyone for anything. The orange one hurts my brain.

I guess if you had different types of ammo, they would be great for quick identification.
But then again thats what colored tape is for. As far as knowing my mags from my friends, I never put down my mags with others belongings. I always place my loaded or emptys on my shooting table or in my bag. |

Funny, Magpul makes colored PMAGs and people go crazy for them. There is a 10 page thread begging for them to reintroduce the orange mags. These might not be as cool as PMAGs but I like them. Wish the orange was a little less bright, though. While I'm not sure I'd ever buy one, I like 'em, and they make sense - particularly for training organizations that do live and blank fire. Taping your own magazines painting numbers on them is all well and good, but many organizations "pre-load" magazines and issue them out for training. You could buy "pool" magazines, one colored set for blanks, one for live - it would be much easier to keep them seperate, and reduce the potential of shooting off blank adapters and ruining weapons, and possible shooting someone accidentally because you got your ammunition mxed up. "Oh shit, guys, I think you screwed up, you handed me a red magazine!" The application for individuals besides novelty might be limited, but I think they could be very useful for "fleet" users. ~Augee |

Do they manufacture their own mags, or refinish mags from an outside source?
If it's the latter, I wonder which ones they use? I was thinking about reliabilty. I would like to have a good quality mag with a color finish. But not just some pretty non (or marginally) functional fashion accessory. ETA: I went back to their site and browsed other products. This looks like it's their Taiwanese magazines. Anyone familiar with Taiwanese import mags? |

Nothing new, really.
In the late 60's Colt had a 20 rd. magazine modified to accept only blanks. AFAIK it was never used by the military, only law enforcement. It was anodized red (although less bright than the mags in question) and in big white capital letters it was marked "BLANK". |
