I agree... More than dumb... And i thought i'd seen it all.

As for chrome plating, to do it right you need either professional know-how or pay to get them done professionally.  Solid quality chrome plating that will last the life of the mag isn't cheap, plus the electroplating or chemical process uses some of the most dangerous hazardous heavy-metal solutions known to man.  I wouldn't bother.  To do it right, you could've used that money to double or triple your mag collection instead.

Ok.  I can see how you can plate a few for kicks and grins.  But at $10 per magazine, its foolish to do if the reasoning is to create a mag that will last much longer, whether that be the mag finish or whatever.  For that $10, you can buy 1-1.25 USGI's at today's prices.

Youve prob noticed theag refinishing thread tacked at the top of this forum.  Lots of good effective cheaper solutions.  I use the CRC Molylube Spray.  Works great, even though it slowly rubs off onto your hands (over a dozen or so trips to the range).  One $8.99 can covers about 12-18 mags both inside and out.

As for pistol mags, I REALLY like my FNHP MecGar nickeled or chromed mags!

Very much more rust resistant, easier to clean, and they work great!

For approx € 2 more!

Honestly: I think in the future, if I am to get MecGar mags, I´ll get them chromed!

I jsut got a quote back from the company they want $12 + 12 for shipping for a magazine For the price of having a single magazine being plated I could get several Pmags.

This may not be what you had in mind, but spray paint has came a long way in my lifetime. Its worth a try, if it dont turn out like you want, you can blast it or sand it off and go back with black.
