I'm trying to figure out a way to organize and store my magazines. NOT long term storage for mags I'm not using or hoarding for the next Democratic Presidential term... Mags that get used at least semi-frequently.

One note on the "organization" part... I don't have a lot of space to do this with, and I have multiple calibers of ARs... The 9mm mags are obvious, but the 6.8 and 243wssm mags look an awful lot like the 5.56 mags.

So, I need to see what you use. I've seen the ammo cans with the mags and may do that, but I wanted to see what other options I have. Thanks in advance!

If I have mags that look close too other mags, I paint the floor plate or put colored tape on the different mags.
I had an AR and a mini 14 one time and it was hard to keep the mags separate, I went the range one time with several wrong mags
As for storage, get old ammo cans they work the best for me.

I use ammo cans.  Caliburs/platforms are marked by duct tape on the lids.

+1,000.  A mighty fine thread to reference there DPMMM.  I remember it well!

I use the smaller .30cal (7.62) ammo cans for a handful of loaded mags to stash in a few hidden SHTF places around the house and garage.  AND I also use them for my 9mm, 45cal ammo storage.

I use the regular 50cal cans for going to the range; holds a good 16 mags, USGI or PMag/Lancer.  They are more for medium term storage of loaded mags.  A Fat50 would be nicer but never felt a strong desire to pay more for them or stock another type of ammo can vs the regular 50cal & 30cal cans, which I already have a dozen or so of each  And a loaded Fat50 weighs quite a bit.

Long term storage I use the large 20mm cans; holds 90 loaded USGI 30rd mags perfectly.  Yes, its damn heavy - 120+lbs.  No, i do not move these cans.  They're set in place once, and it stays there, for a very very long time.  I've got 14 of these, but only 8 contain mags (that are slowly getting filled with ammo).

For long term storage of 5.56 ammo, on stripper clips, I use 40mm ammo cans, which are slightly smaller than the 20mm.  I have two pallets of mostly empty cans for now...sorry pics will be forthcoming, but not sure yet if I want to sell one of the pallets.
