Saw the movie Salt and it had a scene where quad magazine (4 magazines) coupling was use. Do any merchants sell them? |

Why would anyone want to? Have you ever held a rifle running a mag coupler!?! Heavy! I wouldn't even want to think of it being twice as heavy! Not practical! This... plus many people with their mag couplers dont train with them and first reload they do with them under stress they drop a full mag onto the ground and go for one on their kit..... if you do run one make sure it is staggered so when you empty mag is on the ejection port side it doesnt block it and cause a malfunction... hate to think about how many mags I see set up this way... |

Four coupled mags might look cool (to you) in the movies, but in the real world it would turn your carbine into a boat anchor. In my experience, even two coupled mags is a bad idea: Heavy, cumbersome, makes mag changes awkward, more bullshit hanging off of your rifle means more opportunity for your gear to hang up on gear/bushes/roots/you name it, your additional mag is left exposed to mud/blood/rain//sand/more bullshit so that when you slap it in the rifle you're creating a whole new and exciting problem to deal with.
Ever try and low-crawl with coupled mags? |
| I have to agree with the above statements. Running two mags is considerably more heavy. We've seen numerous people drop mags on the deck out of lack of training. I'm not saying the running a mag coupler is a bad idea just train that way! Mercob Security makes the nicest mag coupler we've seen yet, both for PMAG's and USGI mags. Extremely low profile and very light...and its not a plastic coupler! Mag couplers can be a useful tool if properly used and trained with frequently. |
