I was at a gun show in Charlotte, NC last weekend and saw several people selling used 30 round mags for $5.00 each. Like an idiot I didn't buy any because each guy only had a dozen or so and I figured I could find them online and maybe get em a little cheaper if I bought a larger amount. Does anyone know where you can find these mags at other than the gun shows?

Check the Equipment Exchange on this website for magazines.

I saw some at CDNN for $5 but I don't know anything about them.

I would personally just go to AIM and pick up the C-Products ones for $6.95. ($5.95 if you buy 10 or more)
30 round mags are $7 if you buy 10 or more.

CDNN has Fusil magazines. These are top quailty mags. The finish looks like the picture because they pack them in the case side by side. I just grabbed 20. This is one of the best buys in mags at the moment.

Thanks for the advice. I believe I would be better off paying a few bucks more for new mags than some used and abused GI mags.

Well, here's my actual advice on this - beause like an idiot (at first) I didn't buy them, thinking they'd be online for less. Then at a 2nd gun show last month, the dealer had 200 used USGI mags for $5 ea, btu would only take cash. And me, like an idiot, used all my cash on the entrance fee and hot dogs for my boys and me.

OK... what did I learn? I checked each used mag that I eyed thoroughly. I noticed that they all had a faint "clinking" sound when I squeezed the mag sides. It wasn't the spring twitching in the mag body. It happened on 3 out fo 4 mags I picked up and squeezed. Now, I didn't sit on them or squish down hard. I just used palm and hand pressure and gave it a good squeeze, sometimes a slight twisting effort from the top and bottom ends. 3 out fo 4 mags would yield a faint clink or clack metallic sound.

Feedlips were closely checked too, and all looked fine. But I was hesitant to chuck $200 (if I had the cash on hand) on used USGI's without having a better surefire way to check if they were truly GTG.

I later learned (from a reputable USGI mag manufacturer on this site) that this may be a telltale sign that the heat treatment wasn't fully done, or done well. The mag bodies should be absolutely stiff, assuming the welds are also done absolutely right and are rock-solid.  I thought it could be a bad or poor weld somewhere on the mag body.

I'm glad I didn't buy a boatload of used USGI's from the gunshow dealers, for cash. Instead, I got a great buy on new-in-plastic-wrap USGI's for just a little bit more per mag.  C-Products for just a bit more, brand new in wrap.

If you do buy used USGI's at the gunshows, get the most solid ones, not just the best looking ones... my 2 cts.

SO you were expecting to buy mags online for less than $5...?

And why not? Have you checked what new USGI mag prices are lately? As low as $6 NIW for "older" versions of "brand names" to $6.99 for "recent" production "brand names".   And that's the online "advertised" price.  Do a [group] buy of 2000 mags direct and see what you get.

To me a decent used USGI mag should be selling for $3.50 TOPS!

Not that it should be $3.50 tops, but I remember when many dealers, CTD and Brownells included, sold decent used USGI pre-ban's for $24-$28 EACH in the late 90's. Its time for payback IMO. The mag manufacturers are still able to make some profit, although revenues are a lot lower and it is much tougher now. (It isn't fair because raw material prices, energy, and labor costs haven't exactly come down for the OEM's.) But retailers and distributors - they make a "middle-man" cut that sometimes boggles my mind.

Anyway, used functional USGI's should be selling for less than $5. If new-in-wrap USGI prices have come down some 25-50% since the pre-Obama period, the used ones must come down even harder. If you do't think so, well, all the power to ya. Greed is good.

Wow, for the looks of it, I wouldn't even pay $1ea for those!  More trouble than its worth.  When a brand new follower and spring start to approach the cost of a used mag, its time to buy new mags instead.

go with AIM.

Fast shipping, as-advertised (in all products) and hard to beat price-wise.

I would stock up on those 20-rounders...  I just really, really like straight-bodied 20rnd mags.

I've got magazines that look like that.  I'm not entering them into a beauty contest, they are for the range.  You can sometimes find some really good bulk deals on magpul followers on ebay.

AIM, wideners, Mag44 (free shipping on c -products), etc.

They are good ones for mags made by c-products.

I was at the Hickory, NC gun show last weekend and the guy was still selling the $5 used mags. I went through all he had and got 3 new mags, 5 like new mags, and 4 in good used condition. The rest he had were very well used and I wouldn't have paid more than $3.00 each for them.
