I was shooting an action match this weekend with my usual Lancer 30 magazines. I have 5 of them and it is nice to use them for downloaded stages since you can easily see how many rounds are in the magazine. I had a stoppage and after looking at the problem it was determined that a round had jumped up in the magazine and the bullet caught at the top of the barrel extension. When the bolt tried to close it pushed the bullet back into the case and dumped a load of H335 powder into the chamber, action, everywhere. Suffice to say I was done for that stage. Used my other 3 Lancers again with no problems and they seem to be fine but i'm having a hard time trusting them now with this issue.
I went and started looking closer at the problem and have found that all of my Lancers are having a similiar issue and i'm wondering what could be a cause and if there is a solution. 2 of my magazines are allowing the round to jump very severely. The other 3 still allow the round to jump to an smaller extent but still not allowing the round to stay flat. Loaded magazine front/side/rear:

Any possible reason for this or possible solution to fix? They are only about a year old and not run extremely hard. I do not see any cracks or bends in the plastic or feed lips. Any help is appreciated. |

sorry to hear you had a problem. It's possible there is a problem with the magazine. Send me an email and we"ll work on solving the problem or replacing the magazines

| I've had 100% service from my one Lancer 30, and six Lancer 20s so far. Ran the 20s all weekend in the cold and rain for an Appleseed, amongst a few other other outings. My only 30 sits loaded in my Oly most of the time but has not failed to discharge all 30 when asked, even after sitting loaded for a few months. I'm still planning to sore some more of the 30s. Damn nice to see the quick response from the company as well. |

I'll keep everyone updated as to results but i'm very impressed with the customer service that Lancer had offered for their magazines.
From a reliability standpoint these magazines have all functioned flawlessly for me for the past 2 years with only minor problems that I have no way of being able to attribute to the magazine itself. I never even looked at how the magazine was feeding until that problem round came up last weekend and I started to investigate the possible cause, whether it was rifle, magazine, or other cause. I ran these magazines in another match this past weekend and they ran without issue but I appreciate Lancer willing to take a look at them just to make sure they are working as designed. |

I have seen this happen and it wasn't a result of a magazine, it was a result of a short stroke. If the bolt group is barely getting behind the bullett, then the last thing it is touching is the case head, and if it kind of wants to stop here, or has just a little bit more energy, the bolt will be pushing on this case head and the mag will push up on the cartridge and force it between the lips and I've seen them dive into the top of the barrel extension.
high speed video is the only way I know to really deduce what would be happening. You really could have a mag problem but I have seen that happen before. |

The reason i'm looking at it as a mag problem is that the round is popping up as with the pictures when working the charging handle by hand and making sure the bolt is compltely to the rear.
From what I can see during hand operation the bolt is pushing down on the round stack as it is in the forward position. When it moves fully to the rear the slightly compressed rounds snap back up to the top of the magazine and into position to feed and kept in place by the feed lips. When the bolt clears the midpoint of the top round it starts to tip up so when the bolt completely clears and they come back up the top round is able to cross over the round under it and doesn't stay flat against the feed lips. I looked at my other magazines (c-products, D&H, Pmags) and other than 1 C-products mag that only did it slightly a few times, the rest all kept the rounds flat as the bolt retracted. My primary mags for competition are my Lancers so they get the most use. I'm thankful to Lancer that they are very proactive and fully stand behind their product. |
