I have some colt magazines, that have no date on them. Are these real Colt mags or just the floor plates?

Another question I have is, how would I know whether or not the magazines are pre-ban? I have some with the date code 3/06 which I assume are not preban.

Look for the "Cage Code" stamped on the BODY of the magazine. 33710

No Cage Code, it's NOT Colt!

Also, maybe some one else can chime in on where exactly to look, but later (date stamped) Colt mags have an internal stamp from Okay (the actual manufacturer)

Okay Industries makes Colt mags.

Okay didn't start date/cage stamping them until the early 1990's, but they're all dated, so if it doesn't have a date, it's by default- a pre-1994 mag.

The millions of mags made prior to the date/cage stamp were completely blank on the outside.

Okay has an internal code that appears to match the date of manufacture. Strip the mag, hold it up to a light, and look inside. About a half inch from the edge is a "K6" stamp on one side and an "06" on the other. About a half inch further in there is an "86' on both sides, 6 is (apparently) the month and 86 the year.

So if your mags have the internal stamp, they're probably Okay mags, and probably have their original floorplates.

I have to disagree on the Cage stamping. I have Colt magazines that I have owned since 1972 (When I purchased my first SP-1) they have the hard dark green follower and are marked with the Cage code on the body.

I have colt mags that are still "space bagged" that don't have their cage code on them.

62667? That's a Colt part number, not the cage code.

I stand corrected, at my age the memory goes first (what goes second, scares the hell out of me!)

I went down to the safe and checked, it is 62667.
