At the Charlotte gun show today, I picked up a couple of these AR mags for $40/pc.  I feel like any $40 mag is over priced but my wife(has a thing for HK) pushed me for them and at that price, was less than what I have seen them going for anyway.  Point is - I know they are overpriced to begin with.

My question is, has anyone used these mags and had any issue with FTF?  Thanks!

Just wait for the magazine springs to wear out and try to get replacements.

no issues at all

sure they weigh more than alum mags......but they hold up.  Been using them for several years now.....not one issue.

as for the spring.....some people whine about "possible problems replacing them"...but how often have you worn out magazine springs?  Been shooting for 35+ years...have yet to wear out a mag spring.

they are great mags

PS..I have Magpuls also.....they are great....but prefer the H&K's

Tango Down ARC mag is the best out there,if there was anything better or tougher SOCOM would be using it !

I haven't worn out a spring yet, but I have a low round count in mine.

If you do need extra mag springs, Specialized Armament Warehouse has some that do work.  Their Extreme Duty Red springs work in my HK mags.
Here is a link to the springs, they are $6 bucks a pop, link  or a 10pack for $50, link

Here is the link to the thread that I do a shitty mini review.

I like them, and the mags work for me.

Uh....he didn't ask about those, and SOCOM used the HK High Reliability mags way back when also.....

Oh... I get it ...that was a lame attempt at humor !

Why didn't SOCOM choose the PMAG?

I have (5) of the HK mags for SHTF storage. I just tested each of them with 30-rounds to confirm they work.
I use the cheaper traditional mil-spec aluminum mags for range use.

No solicitation for a polymer magazine has been held by SOCOM as such there has been no competition to choose one mag over the other. The TD mag is a non government funded part of the FN SCAR weapon system which required no competitive testing. Sausages, Laws and Gov Procurement is something that is not nice to see being made.

Magpul has (and always has had) the policy not use the names of individual units that purchase Magpul items as advertising. So that is as far as we can go in defending ourselves in an anon internet bash such as this.

As for the HK mags. Out of the box they probably are the best built AR mag out there. However after they were tested in large numbers they had issues which lead to second gen version that still had some problems. (gen one had the bright follower, Gen 2 follower was black).

I think this post speakes well of Magpul as a company.  They do not bash Tango Down, they do not bash HK, and they do not name names of end users just to win an argument.

I have PMags, HK gen I and II mags and USGI mags.  They all work great for me.  Recently I took a carbine class and split the time between the Pmags and HK mags.  My only malf was a double feed with one of the HK mags.  My loaded go to mags are windowed Pmags.

to get a spring to wear out, you probably are putting tens of thousands of dollars worth of ammo through that one mag.
i envy you

IIRC, the spring thing came up because there were issues with the springs failing prematurely and H&K's response was to chuck your $50 mag in the trash and buy new ones.

I am an RN , also to keep the thread on tact, I have  2 HK mags, I paid over 40$ for them, not sure they are worth the money,as they have not performed any better than mags half that price.

Wow, looks like we have a winner right here.

If you knew what he asked why did you post the random ass statement?

What I was alluding to was that they used a "Super" mag, read HK, until problems manifested down the road as the round count went up on them.  So before declaring a brand new to the market mag is superior to all others, why not give it some time to work the bugs out or see what problems arise.  I believe that there is the possibility they will have some teething issues, just like Magpul did, with a small run of mags.

And to keep this sort of on topic
OP I don't mean to insult your intelligence or anything, but there have been some posts on here on how to disassemble the mag.  I made a quick little youtube vid on how to do it if you need a reference or something, it's really easy if you don't know how.
If you do know how just disregard.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JJkQIDwXik

Yup, there are reports of some springs south with less than 800 rounds through the magazine. Instead of HK manning up and stating "We had a bad batch of springs, let us handle it" they pulled their standard BS.
