| Greetings Forum Members, I'm new to the ar's and my local gun store is selling a 30 round prebanned magazine for $60. Is this the going rate or is it overpriced? Thanks |

Thanks That's a wee bit on the high side. There's a few dozen ads for various pre-1994 mags in the equipment exchange: Equipment Exchange » AR15 Magazines (Page 1) |

Believe it or not, Cheaperthandirt.com still has some 20 and 30 rd magazines in stock. They are selling around $20 + shp for brand new magazines. $60 is nothing but pure extortion on the fears of the upcoming change in administration. The OP is in New York. He has to buy pre-9/94 magazines. |

This spring I sold all my prebans––about 20––to shooters in NY State. I sold them for $12-15 plus shipping. I thought that was a fair price, considering also that I had put in new stainless steel springs and upgraded them all with green USGI followers. They were good mags for the Ban guys in NY. I used the money to buy new USGI mags. What I did wasn't exactly charity––I didn't give them away, but it seemed silly to have a whole ammo can full of prebans when NY'ers were starving for them. Bottom line: they got rebuilt prebans in good condition for a reasonable price, and I got money with which to buy new mags for the stash box. |
