Got 3 OKAY new in box mags last weekend at the gunshow.
I opened them, they look beat to hell, obviously have been inserted(you can see the insert marks super clear) and have scratches all over the dry film. They came in WHITE boxes, cage code 33710. Is this normal? Someone told me it was b/c they test fire all mags, but none of my NEW c products look like that. |
|
It's normal. First, dryfilm is easy to damage just by touching it. Not a Center in a bag or an Okay in a box I've seen doesn't have some sort of handling wear.
Those are not insertion marks. And the mags haven't been loaded or test fired. Looks like they're inserted into a jig for either a fit test, or for handling at the factory. The "insertion marks" you see on brand new ones aren't the same as you see after inserting them into a real AR magwell. In short, don't worry. All new Okays look as you describe. |
| I have over 50 OKay mags in the white boxes and they are all new and just as you described. I like them over Colts and think they are the gold standard in USGI mags along with other makers. No worries as already stated. C Products mags are fantastic and you will not go wrong with them. If for any reason there is an issue with them, contact Larry at CP. He will stand by his mags 100% and replace any that do not work. Out of the 125 C Products mags I own and tested, only one had a fault and Larry too care of the matter pronto. In addition, Magpul P-Mags are also great mags and Magpul is just as committed to their products. |

Since Okays cost more, typically, I wouldn't do it. If I could sell 4 CProducts magazines, and get 5 Okay magazines... I would do it. (This isn't reality.... in real life, you sell 2 Cproducts magazines and get 1 Okay) I would probably do it if it was an even 1 for 1 trade, just because Okays have the name recognition (both being Mil mags, and being "Colt" mags), and are typically more desirable. Functionally.... I can't say I would want one over the other. Both are great quality magazines. |

What is current rate on OKAYs? and how much is too much? Going to hit the gunshows.. |

They have green followers to be more specific. |

If you can get them now...without a backorder at $12...I say buy them now. |

Thanks for the info. I get them in person very easily so I figured 12 bucks a piece wasn't a bad price but figured I would ask since I just bought 10 P Mags at $15 a piece. Sorry to get off topic, carry on. |
| I'm glad I read this. I bought some new Okay mags from a guy awhile back. When I got them and opened the boxes I was a little disappointed because all of them had the insertion marks as mentioned. The green followers were clean and unmarked so I figured the guy had just test fit them when he bought them. Looks like they were new. |
