Hey I ordered some cooper mags b/c they were dirt cheap (even though Ive heard some bad things about them) but im replacing the springs and followers anyways. Aside from the spring/follower issue, anyone know whats so bad about them? I inspected them and they look as durable as any other ones. I cant even tell them apart from the rest.

Some of them only have three or four welds instead of the specified six.  These bodies are junk, unsalvageable.  Coopers are the only ones I know of that the .mil recalled.

Sanchez gets a bad rap, but if you replace the spring and black follower with a new spring and green GI or magpul follower, they rock.  I had a bunch, they worked just fine, eventually I sold them to Ban states and bought new Centers.

Avoid Cooper.

I actualy have 4 Cooper mags that are built correctly. They run perfect and I use to use them as range mags. I've since put them back into the collection. That said I would still avoid Cooper mags all together. My luck in having good Cooper mags is very rare so do not tempt the magazine Gods, OK?

Even with 3 or 4 welds, I dont see how just inserting some rounds will manage to actually pull apart the body? You cant even pull a metal door open that has just a few welds on it. I understand 6 is better then 3 or 4 but 10 is better then 6... I cant see it making THAT large of a difference. Are there issues with loading? I guess Ill have to try them out haha. I just find them soo cheap because they have a bad rap..I can imagine why they lost there contract b/c mag companies were a dime a dozen during the war..no reason to accept 4 welds..but am wondering if in a recreational situation they are reliable as the next.

OKAY....your right..[>:/] haha they wont chamber a round...I do have the old followers in them still... but, I just bought 16 new usgi's from pre- 1994 with all old springs/followers still in them and they all chamber wonderfully except for the 2 coopers. Guess ill count it as a 18$ loss....hey anyone want 2 pre-ban cooper mags? lol (im just kidding)
