While trying various mags in a new upper that is having feeding issues I came across a problem with some of my 20 round straight mags.  For some strange reason 4 of them will no longer fit in the mag well, it is like the swelled up sitting in a box.

Any thoughts?

I have some NHTMG mags that are doing that.  They feed fine but tight as hades in the magwell.

NHMTG mags

I have 6 NHMTG mags that are doing the same thing. Visually, I cannot see any deformation. I have to jam them into my MEGA lower receivers and they jam on every shot. However, they still fit, drop-free, and feed perfectly fine from my Anvil Arms lower and my friends High Standard lower.

Are these the same mags:

Are you storing them loaded or unloaded?

Some of the newer environmental regs require the application of water based Teflon coatings instead of traditional solvent bases. C-products ran into problems with there production due to this.  I have to wonder if the water based coatings are prone to absorb water in humid climates that don't see high heat levels, especially if the initial curing process didn't completely finish.  Absorbing moister would expand the depth of the coating, like a dry sponge dunked in water.

Yes, those are the mags and they are stored unloaded.

My PMAGS and curved 20's drop free from that AR with no problems.

RRA and Cav Arms no problems.

DPMS old lower and S&W MP lower a problem.

What lower are you using?

The lowers aren't the issue but if one must know a RRA and a Noveske.  They have in the past dropped free.  The Pmags and 30 round GI still do.
