I'm in the process of building my second ar-15 and had a questions with regards to magazine capacity. Unfortunately, I live in California and I'm limited to the 10rd capacity law. My question is, what is involved in modifying let's say a 30rd mag to accept only 10rds ? Is it something that can be done relatively easy or should I have a gunsmith do it ? The reason I ask, is that my new build will be a 6.8mm and I wanted to modify a 26rd mag to accept 10rds. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike |

more trouble than its worth (not so much in modifying but in that if some dickhead sees you having a good time with what looks to be a 30rnd your in for a rough day) that being said if you got any welding skills id suppose one could weld a metal rod to the floorplate of the mag (tho i doubt thats legal) |
Thats kinda what I figured, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Thanks for the response. |

One thing I used to do for people is to take 30rd mags, measure out the space I needed, add another 3/16 of an inch, drill a hole, and put a pop rivet in it as a stopper. Now some places may not accept that just cause it's an easy modification that can be taken out. but it works. |
