I'm in the process of building my second ar-15 and had a questions with regards to magazine capacity.  Unfortunately, I live in California and I'm limited to the 10rd capacity law.  My question is, what is involved in modifying let's say a 30rd mag to accept only 10rds ?  Is it something that can be done relatively easy or should I have a gunsmith do it ?  The reason I ask, is that my new build will be a 6.8mm and I wanted to modify a 26rd mag to accept 10rds.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

more trouble than its worth (not so much in modifying but in that if some dickhead sees you having a good time with what looks to be a 30rnd your in for a rough day)
that being said if you got any welding skills id suppose one could weld a metal rod to the floorplate of the mag (tho i doubt thats legal)

Thats kinda what I figured, but I thought I'd ask anyway.  Thanks for the response.

I have been a lurker for a while, but I am also interested in this. So far this is what I have found: http://www.riflegear.com/p-351-magpul-pmag-10-round-20-body-magazine-223556mm.aspx

I wish Magpul made a 10rd magazine.

One thing I used to do for people is to take 30rd mags, measure out the space I needed, add another 3/16 of an inch, drill a hole, and put a pop rivet in it as a stopper.

Now some places may not accept that just cause it's an easy modification that can be taken out. but it works.
