I been using MAGPUL Generation 2 in all my USGI Aluminum Magazines and they have been 100%

Anyone using MAGPUL Generation 3 followers?

How do they compare to the Generation2 MAGPUL followers? Fit? Finish? Quality?

Any feedback would be helpful.....If positive I plan on buying a few dozen.

Thanks John

They look different and feel slicker than the G2's.

ALL of my aluminum mags have MagPul followers in them.

I bought some C-prod aluminum mags which had G2's in them and that got me started.

So I bought ten of the G3's and installed them. As I said before, different look and feel to them, but the seem to function just the same; excellently.

Now all 30 of my aluminum mags have them. A few with G2's, the rest with G3's.

If you like the G2's, I think you'll like the G3's just as much if not more.

Also, I think the foliage green G3's look really cool in grey mags.

I never had a problem with the 2nd generation followers. Since I'm not in the market for mags at the moment I have not thought about getting any mags with the 3rd gens. For now I have no reason to swap any of my 2nd generation followers for 3rd gen.

I never had any problems with my 2nd generation MAGPUL followers either.

Im not looking to buy 3rd generation MAGPULS to replace my 2nd generation MAGPULS. Im looking to use some 3rd generation MAGPULS in some USGI that still currently have USGI Greens.

But then again I never had any problems using USGI magazines with Green USGI standard followers either.

MP Gen 3 Followers have more play in them than the Gen 2's.(not in a bad way) They seem to be slightly smaller and are more likey to work in tighter and slightly damaged mag bodies. The Gen 3s slide with less resistance than the gen 2's in my D@H Mags.

Magpul states the Gen II are still GTG.  Gen III was a result of the mold they use for production starting to wear out, so they figured now was the time to do some improvements.

I have a few Gen I, and an good amount of Gen II & III.  I had to select mags that were looser to use the Gen I in.  The Gen II & III dropped into any USGI mag I've tried.  On a side note, most of my mags still have the USGI green follower.  I see no reason to replace them all when I've had no trouble with these tilting at all.

That is correct. Gen II's are fine.

The physical changes to Gen III were small, but it allowed new tooling to be brought on line and the base material in them is different (more lubricity). We've been testing the III's for a few months and will start using them in production mags over the next couple of months.

Being a "LITTLE"obsessive/compulsive I replaced "ALL"of my greenies for the  Gen II's.Test fired all without one failure.Stashed them away and then the Gen III's came along and"YES"I ordered them right away and replaced "ALL"of the II's for III's.And as expected they also worked without failure. My shootin buddy's love the fact that they ended up with the II's for free.

this info is worth quoting.  I have all 3 generations and trust them all. But in a critical situation I would rather have the gen 3 for the slight improvements.

Of no real value, but as color goes the gen 3 look good, I didn't like the light gray of the gen 2. I do like the tan gen 1.

I also have some of the CMMG stainless and they are in the same ballpark on reliability, I don't like the shiny appearance though, so it's all magpuls in my future
