I have been using a Ranger Plate, but can't get a good grip when pulling it out of the pouch on the my vest.  I can get a better grip on the mag with the standard plate.  Are L plates any good?  I have had a few standard plates come off a fully loaded Okay Mag that was brand new.   What should I do?

It's a combination of your vest and the mags.  If your vest pouches are deep then you might need a longer floor plate.  If your pouches are shallow (showing more mag) you may be good with the L plates which are not as "high" as the loops or the Ranger plate.  I ended up changing my pouches to a more shallow pouch with a longer flap.  I can tuck the flaps behind the mag for ready access.  With the new pouches I can grab about a third of the mag.

Our weapons trainer preaches consistency consistency.  He also says that when you are going rifle, slower is better, rapid reloads aren't a necessity.  Rifle means you have distance.  Distance means you have time.  Time gives accuracy.  Damn I almost recited that word for word.

standard floor plates and standard magpuls work best IMHO.
