A newbie question I know, but I just picked up a couple of CAA M16/AR15 mag couplers and I can't figure out which is the best way to set up the mags - side by side plates down- http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff10/piperpilot1a/MC2.jpg -or side by side one plate up the other down- http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff10/piperpilot1a/MC1.jpg I got both set ups aligned so that the mag on the right didn't obstruct the ejection port cover or mag release. I'm headed to the range this weekend and will give both set ups a try. My only problem with the "both plates down" set up is that I can't use my Lula loader on the right side mag. Any experience with either way, good or bad? Thanks for your help. |

I never use these but if I did both mags would be floor plate down. If you did 1 up/1 down, you run the risk of damaging the feedlips on the bottom mag (fr'instance if you had to go prone real quick, you could bang the bottom mag on the deck!) IMHO, better bet is a redi-mag. Even better is a buttstock located magpouch. |
| I like both facing up. I dont use that setup very often at all but i do have one set clipped together for uspsa 3 gun where there is going to be a magchange whithout much movement and a quick reload is needed which isnt too often. Usually if i have the time ie moving im gonna use one mag and go off the pouch |
