Back in April '05 I purchased a couple of ten pack C Products 30 rnd. mags from Copes Dist.  I was going through some gear and noticed that the plastic bags that they came in had some orange dust in them.  Pulled out the springs and they are all rusted.

What is a good method to restore them and prevent future rust problems???

its some kind of surface rust from the chrome silicon springs...
wipe them with CLP, it should come off...

i'm sure larry from Cproducts will be here soon with a scientific explanation... but i gave you the cliff notes..

That works for me.  It does not appear to be pitted, like you said a light surface rust.
Thanks!

from what larry's said in other threads and other people have experienced (including myself), there will be no pitting or damage to the metal...

i don't even worry about it really... i had to pull a couple of my mags apart to steal the magpul followers to send to my friend going overseas... and when i got the replacement magpuls a couple of weeks later... the spots on the spring where i grabbed the spring and the rust came off looked like normal metal... it didn't come back...

You can spray your springs with black rustoleum. I've heard that's all they do with the no rust CS Springs.
