Is it bad for the springs to leave a mag loaded for extended times (months/years)?
Thanks

Leaving your magazines loaded is not going to create any problems for you.

It's the repeated cycling of the spring (loading/unloading) that weakens them.

Folks here have had mags loaded for years (more than 10) without issue.  I've had some loaded for four or five and function fine.

You can get an expert manufacturers recommendation at www.gunsprings.com which is the Wollf Gun Spring Spring site.

They concur, that it's the constatnt compression/ expansion that weras springs out, not constatnt compression.

So you're saying when I "rotate" my loaded mags I'm actually doing more harm than good?

I've had mags that I've loaded and fired for literally 40 years.  Several 20 round adventureline that I put thousands of rounds of blanks and real booolets through.  They are still pumping them out.  I'm not certain I've ever actually seen a spring wear out.  But if I do I'll tell every one.

I've never seen a follower or floorplate wear out either.  I can't figure out why everyone thinks they need to be changed or upgraded constantly.

I have busted a couple floorplates dropping a partially loaded magazine on concrete, rock or gravel.
