What type of CP mag are you working on?  I am assuming it is a 30 or 20 round mag.

Please see the following link.  It will talk about refinishing mags,  but the first step is disassembly and that is what you are after.

I use a screw driver and lift the lip from the front rather then pry at the hole. (as shown in a photo in the link above)  No you don't need to bent the 4 tabs, that would be bad (unless you have dropped it out course)  I lift with the screwdriver and pull,  and I push on the floor plate with my other thumb.  Perhaps it need at tap?  Possible the the paint wasn't dry whe nassembled and it's stuck?  keep trying

Whatever you do, DO NOT PRY THE FOUR TABS HOLDING THE FLOOR PLATE IN PLACE!.

They are very brittle and will snap off, making your magazine worthless.

I use a phillips screwdriver and insert the tip into the hole, pull it back at an angle to lift the tab just so it clears and then slide the plate out.  You can do this with one swift motion using the screwdriver to pry it up a bit and slide it out.

I use a cleaning rod section.

What's wrong with sticking in the tip of a 5.56?  That's what I've always done.

I assume the hole was intended for a cleaning rod to be used, but I find the screwdriver easier.  But whatever works at your house.
