I picked up several 20 rnd surplus mags made by adventureline and Simmonds. When I load them and try to feed a round the front of the cartridge case gets stuck on the top front portion of the mag. After looking at my newer 30 rounders I noticed the front part of the mags are cut down a little further and don't have this problem. Anyone else have this problem and would it be considered "normal" to file or cut down the mags about an 1/8th inch in this area.....not that anything I do is normal.

Let me guess, you were trying to feed by hand?
It is normal, don't cut anything. In rifle, the tip of the bullet will be way up in the feed ramp, lifting the cartridge from "offending" front of the magazine and feeding it just fine.
