Okay, okay, I know these mags are generally acknowledged to be POS, and not worth owning for actual use.  I've got one I picked up at a funshow, mainly for display purposes.  You have to admit, they DO LOOK cool. I haven't ever even ATTEMPTED to shoot with mine (Don't want to FIU and have to buy another!), but it does fit my rifle's magwell without modification.

My question is this . . . Has anyone ever actually had successful use of a Ram-Line mag?  Why is it that the Swiss seem to be able to make an acceptable see-thru mag for their SIG rifles, but all AR see-thrus are POS?  Just curious.

I have 3 of them that I bought for my Mini-14. They work ok in the Mini, but they won't even begin to fit in the mag-wells of my AR's. I have one built on an Essential Arms reciever and the other is on a PWA reciever.

I bought 1 at a funshow, and it worked in my AR for probably 10-20 cycles. After that...

(I think) since plastic/polimer isn't as strong as aluminum/steel, to make a reliable see-thru AR mag you would need to make the mag's body walls thicker and you won't have enough room for rounds.
that's why SIG mags are larger than AR mags.

Well, that sounds reasonable.   I finally couldn't stand it any longer, and took my Ram-Line mag out for a little fun.   I put 29 rounds of 55-gr. Guat through my Bushy HBAR with it (30th round just wouldn't stay where it should) with only ONE stoppage!h.gif  Then I put 20 rounds of ADCOM through her.  Stoppages, mostly short-stroking, every 2-3 rounds. However,

Makes sense to me as well.

My clear Bulgarian 5.56 AK mags were excellent, but the lips were nearly 3/16" thick.

My RAM LINE fits right in my Bushmaster's mag well, but I haven't shot it yet. It works great in my Mini-14.

I had one of the older POS clear mags. It was never reliable, so i got tired of it one day and pulled it out of the gun while it was empty, threw it on the ground, and shot the living hell out of it. I dont regreat it one bit.

Please excuse this totally gratuitous photo.  We are having an ice storm today, and I am bored.hinking.gif The Ram-line mag is pretty much POS, but it still looks cool.
