Mine just slid right in with the bottom plate removed.  You may have to wiggle them a bit, but NO BENDING TABS, as they prefer to break over bend.

throw them away and put a Magpul follower in place of it.

I'd get Magpul followers instead.

But, if you have your heart set on the green ones; they will go in, but they are tricky.  You have to kinda get one side in under the floor plate lips and then monkey around with the other side.  I know, I know: Ishould stop using all the technical jargon, but I don't really know any other way to describe process.  they are a pain to mess with, but they will go in.

Just put the front end in first.

If you get the time, just call me at 866 274-0247 and I'll walk you through it. It takes a little practice.

Don't bend the metal tabs!  They are not flexible and will just snap off.  The green followers are sometimes be a pain in the butt to install.  Just go slowly, starting with the right (as viewed in the pic) end first, inserting it at an angle.

Green followers are sooooo 2003.  Do you know how many people have died because of green followers???  Avoid them like the plague!  Like most of the weapon accessories used by the US military they are pure junk

Your right, it is a cyclical.  I am removing all my magpul followers and going back to basic black.  Anybody have some on hand? I must have them.

You just have to work them in by wiggling them a bit. Do NOT bend any tabs. Aluminum does not like being bent.

I did the opposite. I took out the jam-o-matic Magpul followers and used the green followers. I never had a problem with them. I bought a buttload of green followers from 44Mag on discount ($10 for about 50 of them IIRC) and replaced all of my Magpuls. I kept getting FTFeeds with the Magpul followers but the Gen IIs seem to work better. I would not recommend tossing out your green followers for Magpuls if they work fine.

Come on over to the retro forum.  There's lots of talk about early black followers.
