When carrying a rifle mag on belt do you carry bullets forward like a pistol mag or bullets to rear for the "beer can" grip.

What about in a chest pouch?  bullets to right or to left (your) ?

Forward. One less movement.

In a GI pouch: bullets outwards.

Chest rig: to the "inside" = forward.

I use a chest rig, and a subload on my left thigh.  my bullets are pointing down range in the subload (Forward?) and they face my right arm in the chest rig.  I'm right handed.

I'm not as tactical, so I just carry a mag with a magpul in my back, non-gunside pocket.  The rounds are facing inwards.  I do keep a Blackhawk drop leg mag pouch with a 3rd and 4th mag in my gearbag for SHTF.  The pouch goes on my non-gunside leg, with the mags facing rearward.

Bullets should always face inward "Towards the Threat".

Training issue.  Use whichever method is fastest and smoothest for you.  Then only do it that way.
