How do you take apart the Colt plastic bottom 9-round magazine?
I want to put a single shot adapter in one that will not protrude much.

Generally there is a little tab on the back, right at the top of the plastic.  Push it down and slide the bottom off.  Be sure to catch the spring and follower.  At least that's how mine works.  MJD

Thanks.
Mine lacks the tab at the rear but you got me to looking at it under a strong light and I finally saw that all that was required was to bend the front tab down like the floorplate on a 20-round.  Then the plastic base and inner actual floorplate slid right off.
I am setting up a rifle for Long Range and it will seldom if ever be fired as a repeater.  Think of it as an automatic ejecting single shot.

If you live in AL the proper disassembly is to drop the ill-configured mag to the floor, and stomp vigorously untill the innards show, then count your blessings you don't live in an area with state-commissioned AWB.
