I have a 10 round Colt mag that always jams when loading the first round.  I am pulling the charge handle all the way back and releasing it, and the round jams halfway into the chamber.  After I load it manually it will feed OK after firing.  It does this in both my Colt and Bushy AR's.  Is this a fixable problem, or do I just have a bad mag I need to toss?

I got 2 Colt mags along w/ my CR6724 rifle when it was new, (dad did also as we bought 2 of the same model Colts) we both tossed that junk in the trash the first day......

Get yourself some USGI 20s & 30s and never look back.

Mike

ps - btw I think their 9 rounders which probably explains your first round woes.....

Thanks, Mike, I was only loading 9 in it, actually I don't think 10 will fit.  I have a few 20's and 30's, just prefer the 9 round clips for huntning, the rifle's a little easier to handle that way.  I was hoping there was something I could do to odify it and get it to work right.

I always thought(?) that the short Colt mags only held either 5 or 8 rounds, but WTFDIK.

Does it malfunction when loading just 5 rounds?  I have three of them that have been used for range mags going on 10 years, and they have always worked well.

How old is the rifle/mag?  I bought a H-Bar last year and the manual says its a 9 rounder.  I don't know if ten will fit and that may explain your problem.
