$50/mag is the price of HK mags in the US

$20/mag is the typical price I see here (CMMG and other dealers) with used USGI mags in the $8-$15 price range.

I bought a bunch of USGI 20rd mags from magman (0% finish, alloy followers) for $10 ea, some new 20rd USGI mags from CMMG (2003 manuf, LEO marked, black plastic followers) for $18 ea, and some 30rd English SA80 mags from Adcofirearms for $12 ea.

IMHO... the beat up USGI 20rd mags work a lot better than the $18 CMMG LEO marked mags, and the new 30rd steel mags I bought work great with the Magpul followers.

The aluminum mags are too damn light. Empty mags will take off when there's enough wind (20+ mph). I'll stick with steel. AK mags have been steel for decades and rust hasn't been a functional issue with those mags. A lot of folks talk about their dry film lubricant wearing off their alum mags and having to refinish them... so what's the big deal about rust on steel mags? If they cause problems (and they don't - just look at the traditional AK mag, one of the most reliable weapon systems in the 20th century) just wire brush and repark/repaint.

HK mags would likely go for 85-100 bucks up here....plus there is never enough of them (all brands).

not to mention that the tax we have up here runs from 7-15% depending on the province.

Unfortunately most of the dealers up here get inundated with the paprerwork and very long delivery times (even before the war) and the mfgr's dont give them very good dealer discounts (from what I have seen in some cases) so they have to bump the price up. I dont hold it against them but I do hate paying that kind of cash for a mag.....

I thought magazines in Canada were limited to 5 rounds.  You guys are allowed to have 30 rounders?

we can have any size mag as long as it has been neutered to 5 rds when the gun it is used for is semi-auto/center-fire. rimfire there are no restrictions. bolt action/pump action no limits either. just the eveil semi-center fire guns.

thats because they bought them from bushmaster for $20 a piece,  a lot of gunshop owners are not very good businessmen.

Jeezus, went to the gun show in Reno this last weekend and more of the same.  A guy wanted $22 a piece for Labelle 30 rounders, but the sign said they would deal.  I asked what they would do for me on the price and he looked like I insulted his mom.  I told him they are going for about $12 online but there is currently a backorder.  He gets all snotty and says sure, if I was out, I could sell them for $10 too.  Wish I had grabbed a card so I know who to avoid giving my money to in the future.
