| My local dealer told me he bought some Ronin USGI AR mags, he also says they make colts mags as well.... I tried to tell him that Okay industries makes the mags for Colt but didnt want to get into it with him so just left it at that..... So has anyone ever heard of Ronin mags?? |
|
From what I can tell from three different sources they are made by Okay/NHMTG. They have the now common NHMTG floorplates. What I don't get is who the hell Ronan/Ronin is?!?!?! If the mag does not say it anywhere they must be a distriubutor? Troy? I'm thinking like DPMS mags are marked "D&H" because they have not ramped up with any custom floorplate NIW. |

Its mentioned here on AIM's website for the NHMTG Mags? Mag-AR1520 New Law Enforcement Aluminum AR-15 20rd Magazines Item#Mag-AR1520 New, Law Enforcement/Military Marked US Aluminum AR-15 20rd Magazines. Originally made for Government contract, the recent "Sunset" of the Assault weapons ban has made these available to you! Made in Hartford, CT by Ronan. Please check all Local, State, and Federal Laws before ordering. www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/AR_15_M16_Magazines.html#a182 TROY who is RONAN? |
I am not Troy, but I know the answer. A former president of Colt. A major supplier of magazines for the past several years. I have been buying my magazines from him for the past 5 years. The mags are made by the same sub-contractor as Colt uses. Larry |
Do these have aluminum followers and are they the same quality as USGI? Is the mag body made of a single piece of aluminum? Have you shot them yourself? Would you stake your life on one? Enquiring minds want to know. |
I have not seen any aluminum followers on new production magazines. This company gets there magazines from the same source as Colt. The quality is excellent. I have sold several thousand have never had a complaint.
I would have to say yes.
Yes, never a problem.
I would, but they work in my rifle. I would not take my recommendation or any one elses on whether you would "stake your life on one", only one whether they are good enough for you to purchase. Take any mags you buy to the range and see it they work correctly in YOUR weapon, that is the only one you care about. While the rifle I shoot the most likes these mags, it chokes on the highly rate Hk mags. Go figure! Larry |
Thank you for the answers LarryB. I'll definitely have to take a look at these. I hear ya. Rifles are finicky sometimes. ![]() |
