I tried out 2 new mags from CMMG today - LEO marked 30 rd D&H teflons upgraded with CS springs and Magpul followers.   After inserting the mags (loaded to 30), I released the bolt and both mags had trouble feeding the first round.  The bullet would get halfway out and then hang up and stop the forward travel of the bolt.  Didn't happen every time, and there were no other malfunctions with either mag, including rapid fire.  So what could this be?  Getting that 30th round in was definitely a little tougher, so maybe its just a break-in issue with the springs?

All help is appreciated!

You really didnt need to upgrade the springs considering they are brand new USGI springs and will do just fine..  Use a ruler or something else to push the follower down and up and couple times to try and "break in" the mag and see if this helps

No, the spring/followers didn't need to be upgraded.  I have 18 other USGI mags that run just fine with the usual springs and green followers.  I'm just trying out these two out of curiosity to see what all the Magpul hype is about.  For $22 each, it's not killing me.

Jar3ds - I should have clarified that these are the black teflon D&H mags which are the same as your friend's DPMS mags.  Curious he's having the same problem.

I am trying to compress the springs some and see if this is just a break-in issue.

The followers are nice, BTW.  No tilt.  I did have an old Parsons mag that wouldn't feed right - spring weakness seemed to allow the green follower to tilt and hang up.  Not a problem now, but then I just put a GI spring in there.
