Is it do-able to transplant the innards of a brand new .22LR DPMS 10-round magazine into the beefy body of a hi-cap?

Someone here did it with Orlite mags. IIRC they cut the top of the orlite and stuck the whole .22 mag into the top.

As I've been thinking about it, can't you just glue on a piece of wood shaped like the lower portion of a 30? I mean, the part that fits into the receiver is already made, so one were to make it like a 30 for training purposes, it should be ok.
