| Is there a mag loader for Colt 9mm mags????? |
|
Colt 9mm mags are based on the Uzi mag. The difference is that Colt needed a way to trip the bolt stop on the AR, so they added a channel along the rear of the mag and put a tab at the rear of the follower. Many people use modified Uzi mags in their Colt ARs, which work other than they don't trip the bolt stop. If you had an Uzi loader, you would need to cut a notch in it in order to allow it to slip over a Colt mag with the channel on the rear. -Troy |

I went the Uzi loader route before I went to subgun school. I was a very popular man for that week, too. Oddly enough, my loader came with 1970s-era literature in Vietnmaese of all languages. Very odd. The loader needs a channel cut in the back, as already mentioned, to work effectively. The steel is very thick and very hard, and your dremel will have a tough time of it. I went to our vehicle repair shop and used one of their grinders, basically the "big boy" version of a dremel tool, and it took about 10 minutes and lots of measurements. Take a magazine with you. Once completed, the thing is solid as a tank and will load 5-7 rounds per "thump;" dump the rouns in the loader, line it up, and give a gentle but firm thump on a hard object (like a wooden table) and the rounds seat themselves. Make sure that the top round is seated before removing the loader, or you will be rewarded with the "Colt spray" as your rounds fountain into the air. I am glad we traded them for M4s... |
