Anyone have a good layout for maximizing the count of 5.56 30rd open end boxes (same type used in a 5.56 bandolier) in a standard .50 cal ammo can? I've tried a couple different configurations but have only gotten to about 30 boxes. There is a bit of space around the sides but the goal is to get 1000rds in a can, 33 boxes of 30rds and one 10 rd stripper clip 'loose' in the can.

Yes I'm type A, but really I want to be able to count easily...

IIRC I can get 960 rounds on strippers in the cardboard sleeves in a 50 cal can.

I can get 1140 in the IMI 30 round boxes.

Without the cardboard sleeves, you could get 1000 on strippers.

Thanks, I played with it a bit more and can get 960 rds in boxes in the can. There's enough dead space to get 40 more rounds in there on strippers so I'll make my goal, at least in total number of rounds.
