13mm Gyro Jet  Section.
That's a nitrated piece of string as an igniter for the one big piece of gun powder, small pistol primer.
Used in a smooth bore, the MBA jet ports are angled to give spin to the entire projectile.
Think a pistol just sold for $5000 or something.

Well, that's the coolest thing I've seen on here all year.

Extremely cool!

That pistol and the ammo have fascinated me since I was a kid.

If you don't mind my asking, how much did that projectile cost? I know they are expensive.

Unfortunately not even mine, clients, its the second (different) gyro jet that I've sectioned.  At  SLICS (St Loius International Cartridge show) they sell for around $30 for the cheap ones, like this.
There is a guy on Gun Broker right now selling 4 different for $275.  Too rich for my blood!

Apparently I should have gave my father all my money and purchased as many of those things as I could have out of the back of "Shotgun News" when I was a kid....

A guy at our local gun show has not just one but TWO Gyrojet pistols for sale!  IIRC the asking price was more in the $3000 range.  He has at least a few rounds, many of which I thought looked pretty grody.

Yesterday at gun show, there was a guy who claimed to have bought the inventor out of his supply of parts and ammo.  I could have bought a cracked housing half for $25.  Was neat, but after my last move I decided I need less crap and declined to buy.
