As of a couple of hours ago it seemed that the cheap XM855 is going for @  $0.68/rd shipped.  Real M855 (what little is out there) is going for @  $0.95/rd. shipped.  193 seems to have had about a 20% increase in price over the last 24 hours.

Today I bought the last my larger chain store had.

420 round green can Federal $179 (last two)

150 round box of AE $55 (last two)

Maybe the sky isn't falling but I've wanted some of this for the SHTF etc.

Some of the prices in the EE make me lol. But hey it's a free market right?

Bad thing is people are paying the crazy prices. They will be right at home with the guys that bought the $75 pmags too.

It's tough not to jump into the madness and sell some of the stash, especially when I have a new build in need of an Aimpoint.

Hmmm maybe a trade would take less of a toll on my conscious......

I did the math today, I can reload 69g smks for ~ $400 per k, this includes buying the brass. I think I'm going to go this route.

The truth of the matter is, .223/5.56 sales have been slow and inventories have been high. I won't play the panic game and pay more than $0.40 cents per round, that would be silly.

The little steel piece in the front of the bullet isn't worth paying some crazy price.  Hell, the penetration of M855 vs M193 isn't a huge improvement, the problem is they are all still .22 caliber.  Just buy some lead core FMJ 62 gr. bullets in bulk and load to 3,020 fps and they will do any job you need done including SHTF situations.  I think the added weight of the 62 gr. is more important than the steel piece being there.

good point .....    the 7 gr, of extra weight    is   worth more

I bought a couple cases of 855 on thursday and got lucky at wideners. 500rd cans of federal for 173 bucks. Also just bought a couple thousand rounds of federal xm193 for 30 cents a round a couple hours ago @militaryshooters.com

More pmags are next.

It's still pretty cheap as long as you go to a big retail store, but if your trying to buy from the guys here on the EE good luck. Some of the guys here are crazy asking a dollar or more per round. But I guess as they say " there's an ass for every seat". This stuff ain't even banned yet....

The day I heard of this proposed ban, I ordered a 150rnd box of Federal XM855 for $64 shipped. One of the last boxes from this online site and right after I ordered it, they increased the price to $73 without shipping... Ridiculous

Not tech. I know everyone's all spun up about the ban, but this forum is still for technical discussions of factory ammo, and "Look what it costs" isn't tech.
