| Has any research been done on the terminal effects of keyholing 5.56 rounds vs 5.56 rounds flying properly at close quarters distances?? I'm just curious if a keyholing round could be more devastating to flesh at ranges where the accuracy doesn't matter as much? Your thoughts??? |
| Key holing will only help if you have chosen a fragmenting otm and its hitting with enough velocity to still fragment. This is not needed. If you are worried or want faster break up, change your bullet. 77gr SMKs penetrate the deepest before fragmenting. Then Hornady 75gr. The Nosler 77gr has the shorest neck of all the heavy 75-77gr otms. The nosler has a neck of about 1inch. |
