| Does this bullet have a cannelure? |

RadDuke is 100% CORRECT. Great round if one can find it,although Black Hills now makes this round for sale to the public. Had just ordered two boxes from Midway and was waiting for them to get here when I posted the question. Now that I have them I can see they do have the cannelure. I think I'll stick with the XM556FBIT3 in my carbine for HD. Need to give the BH a try with the 20" though. |

The change in projectile to one with a cannelure apparently came about as a result of reports from the field of projectiles in the Mod 0 setting-forward under recoil. The cannelure allows the projectile to be crimped in the case mouth. As noted, it doesn't affect accuracy.
And it is also correct that at the same time they changed to a more temperature insensitive propellant. So far as I am aware those are the two differences between Mod 0 and Mod 1. |

While I can't be sure I could swear I was just reading they also changed something with the powder charge between Mod0 and Mod1. Quoted:

Yes. That is what differentiates it from MK262 mod 0. While I can't be sure I could swear I was just reading they also changed something with the powder charge between Mod0 and Mod1. Found what I had read. It was not the difference between Mod 0 and Mod 1 but a proposed change in powders used to load MK 262 by General Dynamics. The proposal was to switch to St Marks powder and gain another 100 fps over MK 262 Mod 1. Read that on Snipershide from post from this past summer |
