Hey everyone i have been searching for the longest time and i cant find a reasonable answer. I have a 16 inch barrel Ar-15 with a 1x7 twist and i have no clue what grain ammo to use. i am looking for something not too expensive for the range and also personal defense i shoot through alot of ammo so something not to expensive would be perfect every place i look the ammo the suggest is 1 dollar a round which is ridiculous. if someone could recommend some good 5.56 ammo it would be greatly appreciated. thank you

1:7 twist is very flexible and should be able to shoot a wide variety of bullet weights. Here's a helpful reference: http://www.ar15.com/content/page.html?id=186

What shoots best out of your rifle is something you'll have to figure out by trying a few different types. The 75 grain Prvi Partisan was recently recommended to me in another thread as an alternative to more expensive offerings from Hornady and Black Hills. At around $.60/round, it's a lot cheaper than most defensive ammo and won't break the bank if you want to shoot some of it up.
