Have some 1993 308 or 762/51 in ammo cans. Knocked off the MG links and was curious if this
Radway is 308 or 762? Headstamp: (RG 93 NATO insignia). Thanks in advance for the info. |

I am no Radway Green expert, but have shot a few crates of it, still have maybe 2k in cans.
It is good shooting ammo, with average velocities. I did notice on my FAL rifles, had to open the gas nut 1-2 clicks for proper function, as opposed to much other 7.62. This is not bad, it just means their powder choice allowed good velocities at a little lower pressure. Accuracy was fair, just behind my favorites, but still considered good ammo. |

Quoted: It is 7.62x51mm NATO. Is it not .308 Winchester. Similar, but not the same cartridge. 1DD same external dimensions, pressures the same. Chambers are different but that won't matter whether you want to believe that or not is up to you. here are some actual measurements not the old stupid cup and psi "correlation" wives tale, http://m14forum.com/ammunition/100445-7-62-x-51-cartridge-vs-308-winchester-differences.html |

Similar but not the same. There is plenty of data out there to support both sides of this age-old argument. Are the two cartridges and chambers 95% interchangeable?, sure, but from a purely technical perspective the Radway Green ammunition was made to NATO specs, which are for 7.62x51mm not the commercial .308 Winchester. I fired a lot of commercial .308W through my HK-91 chambered for the 7.62x51mm will no ill effects I also fired a lot of 7.62x51mm NATO surplus through it as well as handloads on commercial and military brass long before I know there as actually a difference. I'm still here with all my body paprts and the rifle is fine too.
We can continue to beat this horse, but in all reality, 7.62x51mm and .308 Winchester are similar, mostly interchangeable, but different cartridges... The answer to the OP's question is that his ammunition is 7.62. 1DD |
