| Is federal ammo good to use on an ar15 |
|
Federal used to be the gold standard by which all other ammo makers tried to copy, if they wanted to make quality ammo.
Now Federal has tried to cut every corner and turn more profits, by doing so they produce a lot of sub standard ammo. The only ammo they make that is still good IMHO is the hydro shock series for pistols. Their 223 and 5.56 ammo to me IMHO is just for plinking. |

Federal makes plenty of good stuff. Gold Medal Match is still a benchmark. Their bulk .22LR ammo is some of the most consistent, reliable, and easy-feeding stuff I've ever used. Defensive shotgun loads with the Flite Control wad are some of the best-patterning loads available. Hydra-Shock is old school stuff. The newer HST line has superseded it in terms of performance. I admit the American Eagle line is hardly amazing stuff, but it's certainly not junk. |
