Recently bought a Bushmaster Predator. It isn't grouping to my satisfaction. I'm on the hunt for a better scope- the current one was cheap when it was new and I originally bought it for a .22.
Federal 55gr FMJ is grouping approximately 2.25" at ~125 yards. Hornady 75gr were even worse, wider by about 60%.

My Predator:
1x8 twise
20"
5.56/.223 chamber

I was reccommended to try the Black Hills with 69gr Sierra Match King or Federal Gold Medal by a friend who shoots these avidly in long range competetion. Myslf, I'll be shooting paper and groundhogs at 100-300 yards (any ACCURATE groundhog exploders are welcome

What else do you use in your similar barrels?

Hopefully I can help other shooters with this post! Thanks!!

Iv'e had the same rifle for 4 years. It has a Mark 4 leupold 14 power on it and has shot every thing quite well. Had 5 rds touching at 100 yards with wworld 223. and my 77 gr. reloads  are mostly MOA..

It doe's not care for the hotter 556 surplus rounds at all. Primers were blowing out and was getting two inch groups. Maybe to hot of a round is the case.

Thanks!

I just bought some 69 gr Federal Gold Medal with the Sierra Match Kings. $33 bucks a box! Way too expensive but it'll help show what it can and can't do. Also bought some 40gr Hornady V-Max to try the lower spectrum. I'd actually love to be able to shoot the 40gr varmint ker-sploders :p

I have a Remington R-15, which is made by Bushmaster, with a 1:9 twist.  It loves the Hornady 55 grain VMax rounds.  I will not shoot 556 ammo with my rifle but for plinking it does quite well with PMC 55 grain FMJ.
