I took out my AR on Saturday and I had 500 rounds of XM193bl I ended up leaving in disappointment I get all set up load up my mags setup my targets and then start shooting well about 50 rounds in click no boom so I drop the mag and cycle the bcg I look at the round that was in the chamber no contact with the primer then I look down at the table and find a smashed up spent primer ok no big deal put the mag back in and finish it off load up the next mag and get about half through and same thing except this one went down and under the trigger group and would not move so I had two popped primers in 100 rounds I notified the shop I got the ammo at they said try the rest of the ammo if it happens again let them know and they will see what they can do The ammo was shooting kinda hot I had the regulator on my ruger sr-556 on 1 (which is the least amount of gas) and it was still cycling properly
Anyone els have similar problems with federal xm193bl I have shot about 1000 rounds of other federal xm193 variants but this is the first time I have tried the "bl" type |

I've had plenty of bad experiences with Federal XM193 including some squibs and hot loads, from ammunition purchased over more than a years time from several different sources including Ammunition to Go, Midway, and my local range. I don't like the stuff and won't shoot any more of it unless I absolutely have to and I stashed about six hundred rounds in the back of my safe where it will sit ;hopefully forever. |

Quoted: I always figured the IMI stuff was manufactured by people who thought that good ammo mattered to the folks who needed it it to.I don't have crazy round counts so I can't help you much but the 1000rds of fed193 I have ran has been good to go. This post makes me happy I just ordered the IMI M193!! I wish our USA produced ammo was the best you can get, I hate buying imported stuff! I have no clue what IMI does with the factory 2nds, like Federal does with the 'XM' stuff they make, so figure that into the first sentence wherever or however it's appropriate in real world terms. |

| All I've ever shot out of my Recce build has been XM193F and the commercial Federal .223, 100 round bulk packs. 80% of the time its the XM193 though. I'm an irons guy and at my club we have gongs at 200 yards. I ring it probably 27 times out of 30 on a fully loaded mag. It's a little hot, which I welcome. When shooting paper whether indoor at 25 yards or outdoors to 200 yards it give good consistency concerning accuracy and reliability. I've never had a problem with it and frankly, its my go to ammo. I have about 700 rounds on my shelf saved up for SHTF. I read the member reviews before I got into AR's here on ARFcom and before I stocked it. XM193 was one of the loadings that have an overall good user satisfaction rate so that's what I started shooting based upon those recommendations. The brass is not the prettiest sometimes but I think its GTG. OP, sorry you had problems with it. A stuck popped primer can ruin the day if you can't get it out. Be sure to post the lot number so we can check out our stashes. |
