What is this? Quality? Origins? Current availability/pricing?

Thanks.

It's fake M995 AP.  I have no idea what headstamp that is, I've never seen it and couldn't find it in a couple different databases.  However, it's not the headstamp you'd find on real M995, and I'll bet that sticker on the bag is covering up the -109 in SS-109.  It's regular M855 with the tips painted black.  Not AP.

Here's a real M995 headstamp, from MajorAR's thread a couple years ago:

ETA:  I think some country's surplus M855 had black tips, but I can't remember where it was from.  Might be that stuff.  But to be honest, you know it's not real AP because you'd be paying a hell of a lot more than .28/round for it.

It is ss109. I bought some around 2003. I still have some and the head stamps are the same. It is Igman, made in bosnia.

Yep, I was just looking at a different thread from the archive and it's got a pic with that same headstamp.  Bosnian ammo with the SS-109 projectile.

Its either fake or illegal.

Decent price for surplus SS109 ammunition.

Thanks guys. Good info from all.

Yes, the tags says SS109... I meant to mention that. Another bag of it actually said 62 gr FMJ instead of SS109 I think, but I didn't take a picture.

I knew it wasn't real M995... we've got that at work, and I know how tightly it's controlled. Never paid any attention to the head stamp, though.

The head stamp on this stuff was throwing me. My main worry was that it might be corrosive, or just crap ammo. As soon a Igman was mentioned, I went to my stash and found some .308 Igman... same head stamp. I'm fine with Igman for the right price.

A friend introduced me to his neighbor, who had a little of this ammo and a frankenstein/Bushmaster he was trying to get rid of.

Thanks again.

ETA:  Found some more threads on it, here and elsewhere.  Thanks again.
