My poor man's match ammo is prvi partizan 75 grain or hornaday TAP practice 75 grain. My testing has shown the prvi to have a slight edge in accuracy. I get about 1.5 MOA with both from a bench from a service rifle upper (tricked out AR15 A2). Check the molon threads for details. |

Federal Gold Medal Match seems to be the standard against which all factory ammo is judged for accuracy.
Having said that, I strongly recommend you consider reloading. You can get a basic setup for fairly cheap and make ammo that exceeds the quality of factory ammo for even less money. When I was 21 years old I bought my first M1A. Before too long I found that that rifle really liked the expensive factory ammo. Thus I started reloading my own for MUCH cheaper. Best move I ever made when it comes to the firearms hobby. I don't think you'll meet anyone who regretted getting into the reloading scene. But it isn't for everyone, I guess. Some folks just don't have the time. Aside from the Federal, Black Hills makes great ammo that at times can be hard to find. Also consider Hornady Match. Accurate and inexpensive don't really go together. Good luck! |
