PMC is one of the brands I do not buy. It's not 5.56 psi ammo even comparing to .223 it's a fairly light and inconsistant load. Are you talking about PMC bronze? XTAC is advertised at 3058 fps out of a 20" barrel. That is full throttle for a 62 grain bullet. I agree that the bronze 55 grain ammo is weak though! |

My apologies guys. I posted the title as 193 when it is actually 855.
I'm looking for M193 instead of M855. Leaning more toward the AEXM193. Probably purchse from Natchezss. Again, if anyone has any recommendations on 193, i'll be more then happy to read them. Thanks. |

Make sure it isn't AE223 if you want M193, they both usually come in a black box........... At 35 cents a round it's a little high. Why not just get some XM193 from Palmetto and try some X-TAC if you want?
Wideners is good as well, but the above is good if you don't want to buy 300+ dollars in bulk. |

Thanks for all the replies. This M193 is going to be strictly for stash. Wont be shot until the zombies come. ;)
I'll look in to the IMI tomorrow. Gonna have to send a copy of my DL to Wideners before I purchase though. I'll prob go ahead and get a few hundred rounds of the AE193 just to shoot and see if I like. There seems to be an abundance of it around so it should be easy to come by if I happen to like it. My plan is to stash away most of the 5.56 and only play around with my .223. I'm just starting to build my ammo stash so been thinking about how I want to go about doing it, and what I want to stash away or not. Thanks again for all the replies. Your info has been of use. |

No need to live in a tinfoil hat. I'd honestly just shoot half of it at least to try it out. It's cheap relatively now compared to what it was for the quality you're getting. If SHTF kind of guy, I can't see anyone realistically walking around carrying over 500 rounds anyway..... when food and other items would be more important to carry. Since traveling on foot would become more norm..... But whatever makes you happy OP. IMI is a good choice. |

PMC X-Tac is really good stuff. In fact, it's all I really shoot. It's cheap, reliable, and accurate and I have the majority of my SHTF mags loaded with it until I get a few more reloading supplies to load up some 75gr OTM. I used my recently purchased bullet puller (from Wideners) to more closely inspect the projectiles from some of my fave loads. Interesting in that the coppet bullet jacket on PPU's M193 and M855 appears to be quite thick at its base. In comparison, the 62-gr FMJBT-LAP PMC X-TAC's copper jacket appeared very thin at the base, in addition to having a sharper tip. I am sure that this will have an impact on round fragmentation and lethality downrange, but that is the subject for more testing down the road. Regarding the O/P's original request for info, you really can't go wrong with either IMI, Lake City, or WIN/Q3131 M193-type ammo, probably in that sequence order. |
