Any red flags on PMC .223 fmj ammo?
For target shooting mostly, and maybe the Apocalypse, depending on when it happens. |

I've read it is loaded to lower speed than milspec. I like it alot though and shoots great in both of my ARs with no reliability issues. No to sound like a d*ck but it is of course loaded to lower velocities than 5.56x45mm since IT IS .223 Remington... Capt Obvious Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Do you have a link? Not the one who originally mentioned it, but Palmetto has some choices depending on what packaging you want. I am a PMC fan, shooting at paper and steel, and have used a bunch of PMC at matches, starting when it was a $1/20 or so cheaper than XM193. Now at the same price, it is a tossup. I get about 3000 fps from a 20" rifle. Lee |
| I've shot a few hundred rounds of the 55grain PMC with no issues, other than it's not match grade it's functions good, and is reloadable. The 62gr XTAC I shot about 250rds and has FTF and FTE several times, between my Colt HBAR and DPMS A3Lite. The 62gr XTAC is more accurate, however, it is mil-spec with the primers being sealed so you'll have a hard time reloading, and with the FTF and FTE issues I wouldn't recommend it as SHTF ammo, but when if functions its accuracy is equal to the Prvi 62grfmj. |

If it's for plinking / practice, I'd get the PMC over the XM-193. I don't want to feed my *carbine length* fully gassed stuff all the time. Be merciful to your carbine's internals.
When hard pressed, PMC will also do fine for back up stash for any of ARFCOM's favorite end of the world scenario. If I were you, I'd get top of the line 5.56 / .223 loading for self / home defense and then get other stuff such as PMC / AE.223 for practice / plinking and back up stash. Just my HMO, of course. |

| I now have in my ammo locker, and have shot, LOTS of PMC Bronze. It is .223, not 5.56 as has so correctly been mentioned. It has great brass for reloading, is VERY accurate and reliable out of my guns and functions flawlessly. It stil has the stigma or rumor of being a bit underpowered, that story started many years ago when it fiorst became available and people just keep repeating it. It is not true and you can verify it by either checking the published ballistics or running it through a chrono. It is great stuff and at .$31 a round you did not pay too much, that price is about right for todays market, give or take a a penny or two per round. Old rumors about it's velocity and power die hard. If there is any PMC Brnze out there that someone does not want I will be happy to take it, it's great ammo, especially for the money....<><....:) |

I cant wait till this weekend to try out the xtac.I was hoping that this ammo would be better than that crappy ATI m855 ammo i got.Lots of FTE and FTF,if this xtac is just as bad i probably wont be getting any more steel core ammo. I absolutely love the PMC Bronze tho. |
