Samco has some 9mm and .308 I am interested in. Of course, I don't want to get burned. I've never heard of these guys, nor have seen any mention on this site.
The lame public search yields nothing on ARF. (I know, I know. Buy a team membership...) Anyone deal with them or hear rumors? |
I ordered some 65x55 from them. Took a while to ship. Ammo came heavily tarnished/corroded in opened battle packs. This ammo was not advertised as corroded or tarnished. Neither e-mail that I sent them was answered. Couple of days later the add was changed to "may be slightly tarnished". The 65x55 was of course for a small ring Swedish Mauser. It's easier to see a bad case when the cases look ok. That makes me uneasy shooting it in the Swed with it's inferior gas handling. The other ammo that I ordered came nice and shinny 30 Luger. I had my eye on that 9mm that they have but it really isn't that much cheaper to justify my taking another chance with them. That's all I have.

Samco is listing the 308 as having some corrosion, I would avoid it. There have been a bunch of posts about this batch of port that came in with some good, some bad reports. If they are listing it as possible corrosion you can bet it is. You can get a case (750 rnds) of British Radway from Southern Ohio Gun for $399.95 and it is in bandoliers with stripper clips. This is some really good ammo that has gotten all positive reviews. If you buy less then a case it is $42.95 per bandolier, $39.95 each for 10 or more. Shipping is also a lot more reasonable from SOG then samco. I have bought a bunch of stuff from. your best deal for 308l is with the british radway from SOG.

It depends on what stuff you are looking at. I've gotten some of the 9mm from them, its dirty, but its a good strong ammo. The port .308 is a mess, but the linked stuff is clean. So is the czech stuff I have seen, even though it is crossive. The boxed port has the corrosion problems, not the linked. Both the port and Radway are surplus ammo with both being very good. Price wise you'll be better off with the Radway ammo, especially with including shipping costs. If they were priced identical I would take the Port which is a little more accurate out of my 308 rifles. Ken |

Check grafs.com, they had Port .308 instock. They also have have czech surplus, but just remember that it is corrosive. If you have a C&R FFL send it to them and get a dealers account for even better prices. The czech is crazy cheap with the discount. What is it if you don't mind me asking? I remember seeing someone else say it was cheap. I'd have to get my local dealer to send them his info if he isn't already set up with them. |
