anyone mind giving me there opinion on  the Difference between the TAP Barrier Ammo 223 62 G. and the normal .223 55G? or the hollow point Tap. what I am trying to find is A round that is going to hit hard and have a good Frag rate as well. I have a Rock River 1:9 twist 16. thank you for all your opinions people.

The 62 grain barrier is a soft point load that expands and penetrates intermediate barriers well.  It does not fragemnt.  The 55 grain TAP is ballistic tip and does horribly on barriers and does not even penetrate well with no barriers at all.  It always under penetrates.  In 5.56..223 you pick barrier performance OR 12" of fragmenting... you cant have both.  The only TAP that will fragment and not underpenetrate is the 75 grain TAP and it does not do well on bariers like any other fragmenting .223/5.56 loads.  Also the 55 grain TAP is the worst of the LE style 55 grain ballitic tips for underpenetration.  55 grain TRU and 55 grain Silvertips do better, but still dont reliably reach 12".  To get a ballistic tip that reaches 12" you must step up in caliber like the 6.8 or .308 TAP ballistic tips.

Well I'll most likely stay with 5.56/.223 for now what do you recommend for A round say that will be close to A Speergolddot 1.65 G 40 cal? I know there's a diff  here a pistol on side of a rifle here. but I guess im looking for something that will have atlease somewhat of a fragment yet A round that will put someone down if I had to use the AR hope I don't have to ever... before I spend on $700.00 on A case of them that will sit home. just wanted to get some more Opinions or best advice thanks again.

Irrelevant comparison with the .40.  A .40 GD isn't even going frag.

75 gr TAP and that will do it.
