Times, they are not getting any better.

I disagree. This type of booming increase in demand is unsustainable at the current market prices. Seen the price of AR lowers lately? Back down to near pre-Obama levels.

We keep learning the same lesson over and over again.

I agree entirely.  A couple of months ago there was no ammo on the shelves, now I can find it at multiple places although the price is still high. The next step is for the pricing to come back down.

Prices may be peaking a little... but I certainly don't expect ammo to be coming down anytime in the next 12 months. Supply isn't ramping up to meet demand like AR manufactures have been.

And empty shelves everywhere, reloading components scarce... only add to the demand.

If Federal M193 comes back down to $350 or less retail in the next 24 months I would be surprised... happy... but surprised. I am not counting on it.

Edit: Secondly, all the back orders for Federal M193 from the factory with shipping dates in 18 months have been taken in the $0.31-$0.35 per round price range... by the time that stuff ships 18 months from now the price will have to stay in the $400+K range.

Just look at the price of shotgun shells at your local Wal Mart.  They're down to 20.97 per 100, that's a big price roll back from just a few weeks ago.  Wait till they start getting the big shipments of regular ammo every week and people quit hoarding it up.

People have figured out that an AR isn't very valuable if you have no ammo for it.  The tards with 20 stripped lowers have a bunch of expensive paperweights if there's no ammo for them.

I wouldn't call it a score, by any means, but at least its ammo you have now.

That's how I see it, and I still get to kick myself for not buying more earlier on.

I've often thought about how much money could have been made if one had spent 20k  on ammo when it was cheap.....coulda,shoulda, woulda

I'd still be happy with your purchase, you "may" have over-paid by a few dollars, but for me the peace of  mind is worth the extra bucks.

I dont have much ammo

I did buy what I could afford at the time when Troy gave us GOOD  WARNING
8 Cans of m193/M855

Thought about selling it and make a  HUGE profit

Last box of Q3131A was 2.88 a box in IN.  around 2001

Last case of Black hills Blue 75gr was 400 even to door
I thought that was expensive

I wish I bought WOLF for around 99 a case

Yeah the last "good" buy I did was 3.29/20 for XM193,bought about 3800 rds. Also I remember being at a "Funshow" and  buying a few K  of Guat.
Glad I bought back then. I do feel sorry for all the guys trying to build a SHTF reserve. It costs FAR more today then it did in the "good ol" days"

ammo prices have been rising pretty steadily since 2006.  Why would they go back down now?  I agree that there will be a pullback...but the long term trend will still be upwards.
