I have some ammo cans with these dimensions:
Outside dimensions: 8-1/4” Wide x 18-3/4” Long x 14-5/8” High. I think that this is commonly called a 20 mm can but I am not sure. I also have some cans that are very similar but almost an inch wider. The dimensions are: Outside dimensions: 10-5/8” Wide x 18-3/4” Long x 14-5/8” High Inside dimensions: 9-3/4” Wide x 17-1/4” Long x 14” High I always clean and repaint ammo cans when I get them, so I don’t have any markings to refer to. Does anyone know what the larger cans are called or where I can find them on the internet (in excellent condition)? I like to use them for storing less dense materials such as emergency food (inside another container). I have recently purchased cans from armygear.net and was very satisfied but they don’t have the larger size. I bought the larger cans at the Great Western Gunshow, which no longer exists thanks to Los Angeles County. Thanks for your help. |

Quoted:
Fat 50 or SAW are the larger cans. The "larger" can that you mention is called the .50 cal and the "smaller" is the .30 cal, despite what the spraypainted caliber on the side says. Googling any of the above will get you appropriate inner diameter information. 50 cal cans are not 14" tall |

These are narrower, but may still work for your needs. Thease are very HEAVY...but you know that.
edit: Since these are inside dimensions, they may be the same as the first can you listed. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=250415794763 "This is for two US Military M548 1500 CRTG 7.62 MM large ammo cans. These are used surplus but in very nice condition will pass for new inside and only some very minor scuffs on the outside. You will recieve two boxes for the price of $22.00.Inside Dimensions measure 7 1/4" wide X 14" high X 17 1/4" long." Note that the seller is away until June 23rd. He's had these available for a few months at least. If you use Microsoft's "Live Search" and pay with PayPal, you can probably get an 8% discount off the BIN price. I think "Live Search" is now called "Bing". http://www.bing.com/shopping/pages/faq.aspx |
