I've just been wiping them down with a rag lightly coated with gun oil. Am I the only one who thinks that this is not the greatest of ideas? I didn't want a bunch of oil on my rounds either, so I just put on a pair of gloves and wiped them all down with a dry towel. |

You don't want oil on your ammo, it will attract dust and grit. Ammo should be dry.
Also, when fired, the case ballons and grabs the chamber walls, which is desirable. You don't want oil and grease. After the pressure falls off, the case retracts back and is easily extracted. You don't want oil/grease accumulating in the chamber and baking in there. That makes for a dirty chamber with a lot of friction. If you want to clean the cases, toss in the tumbler with clean media for 20 minutes. |

How much is a tumbler and what is "clean media"? |
